There is a NONSTICK inner pot available, sold separately, as well as a glass lid for non-pressurized cooking.

Also, when you are releasing the pressure, fold a towel and toss it over the top, before turning the valve, and it will help diffuse the steam and reduce the risk of burn injuries.

And when making cakes, you are supposed to do it "pot in pot" style, putting your batter in a 6" springform pan, cover it tightly with foil, and rest it on a trivet inside the pot, with a cup of water to provide steam heat.

Speaking of "pot in pot," you can cook multiple things at the same time, if you buy a set of stacked pans made for a pressure cooker. You put the meat dish in the bottom pan, with a solid lid, and the vegetables and/or rice in the top one, with the steamer lid. Or like I do with my family, cooking 2 different versions of chicken teriyaki at the same time, one regular and the other sugar-free, for my diabetic husband.

I am new to the Instant pot, I did get a Viva for the yogurt and sous vide, and I have another one coming from Costco which is a IP Duo SV, I was going to get the IP Air Fryer Lid, and decided not too ; Since, I have an air fryer( which, I have not tried yet as well).
I am getting up the courage to do both by watching videos of the tips, and recipes, Thank You for your videos, I also enjoy meal prepping

I am in almost this exact situation right now… just moved house 3 weeks ago, no oven (it is due to arrive in 3 weeks), & the coronavirus pandemic has hit full force so I hope it's not delayed, delivery guys are working so hard at the moment. I am having to get really creative with my IP. I did cave in, & buy a microwave though (didn't have one, a toaster or even an electric kettle at my last house!) Tricky with a family to feed, all with different food preferences…

CAKE: Yup, you need a smaller pot to place on top of the steamer rack inside the larger pot with a cup of water underneath. You end up steaming the cake. I love to make custards, cheesecake and British plum puddings that you would normally steam in your oven.

An advantage of sauteing what you are cooking is the ingredients are hot and it takes less time to come up to pressure.

There are small bundt cake pans that fit in the instant pot that are great for cakes and things like meatloaf. It keeps the food from burning or sticking to the bottom.

3 cups of water to one box of pasta. I do seven minutes, but I live at 7000 feet, so you're probably right about 5 minutes at sea level.
