Soil scientist Scott Skamnes talks to greenhouse expert Eric Brandstad and cannabis cultivator Kevin Jodrey about sprayers and foggers. Full conversation here: …
The Hudson Atomist is a great product for our industry. We could use is in a smaller/adjustable motor platform. I’ve used them where I had to just stand outside of the room to keep from harming the plants and I’ve had situations where we had a few of them going at once. But those have always worked for me and you can find some bigger atomizers/foggers from ag suppliers that work great.
There is settings on a spray gun amount of pressure and amount of liquid fan pattern and nozzles size can be changed. So my intuition tells me a paint spray gun can be adjusted to work. Almost all of them today are low pressure guns. A low pressure gun can be set to spray high pressure for example that is a outdated way of apply paint. Summary their is a big window of adjustment on a paint spray gun.
Big Ag uses electrostatic sprayers with 100% coverage on both the top and bottom of the leaf with top down spraying. Why do we not see these being put to use in the cannabis community?
Sludge spray gun that show should have had a booth for? https://www.contractorsdirect.com/Imer-Tuck-Point-Gun-Kit It is too expensive, and the pumps for them are insanely expensive. But does it work, how much of that R&D cost is redundant? It's a mud spray gun, it won't clog up every 5 seconds. I have an idea to develop fluid pressure without a pump chopping all the life up also. Gravity, organics, and simple farm tek just makes sense to combine.
"Career Hustler" Thats awesome, love what you guys share, stuck in NJ quality of product is poor, over priced, short supply. But I enjoy listening to these people and what they are doing. Thanks for sharing
I found the Hudson Atomiser to work very well…until the bearing went out on it. Now days I have a small grow going, and find a regular spraying of a light mineral oil and water solution throughout the veg phase (maybe once per week) keeps everything a bay. I just use a one gallon hand pump sprayer and use the hottest water the tap can produce to mix the oil. Then it's pump-it-up and shake, then spray ONE PLANT. Then pump & shake again for the next plant. The misting action cools down the hot water solution, but the heat vastly aids in canopy penatration and insect coverage. By the time the girls get into flowering there's nothing around that can catch up with them. No messy teas, and don't get me started on small scale insect intervention.
you talk about toxins to fight harm animals. In the 30 years I have grown hemp, I have once experienced spider mites and I brought them with prey mites. it sounds crazy to use poison to cope with a natural problem and I hope it is something that is becoming widespread
At the rec farms doing 15 footer outdoor around here (acre to up to 3 acre) they all use the Makita Backpack mist sprayers with the 4 gallon tank and weed wacker engine, Makita pm7650H. Works great for hours full blast, but you need multiple dozen buckets per acre
I was laughing with you guys as you went into jargon laden details on nozzles and homogenization and spray guns etc…

Atomizing with sea90 has enhanced everything dramatically
